Larry Shepard is a former investigative journalist for the Chicago Telegraph until an article that was posted as a joke cost him his career. He soon started making bombs and going after the people he believed to be responsible for ruining his life. He blew up a news station while Sgt. Trudy Platt was doing an interview, injuring her but killing several others inside. He was prepared to kill his former employer, Allen Tullis, using a bomb vest, but was stopped by the Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Fire Department.
