Deputy District Chief Joel Tiberg is the Chief of Academy Operations for the Chicago Fire Department.

He informed Firehouse 51 that they were under investigation after a building manager ran back into a burning apartment only to jump out of a top floor building and onto the pavement, being put into critical condition. Interim Battalion Chief Pat Pridgen fed Tiberg a false statement, but once Severide and Welch came to him with the truth, Tiberg relieved Pridgen of his duty and reinstated Boden. He was called in again to investigate a member of Firehouse 51 who threatened Chief Dan Weiss during a warehouse fire, and when Joe Cruz was prepared to face the music and risk losing his position on Squad 3, everyone involved got his back and claimed responsibility. Tiberg was later seceded by Ray Riddle.
