Synopsis[]
Father Anthony witnessed the fire at the St. Sebastian church and almost suffered smoke inhalation, but was saved and escorted out of the burning church by McHolland, while Captain Casey and Lt. Severide and also Lt. Herrmann evacuated the people out of the church. After the fire was put out, Father Anthony showed to Casey and Severide and the other firefighters his dead rectory cat Willow after the arsonist burned her alive by dousing her with gasoline and setting her on fire until she died.
Arriving outside the St. Sebastian church that was charred, Father Anthony returned, and thoroughly, Severide and an investigator from the Office of Fire investigation named Lt. Wendy Seager questioned him about the cause of the fire that the arsonist set Father Anthony’s cat on fire and burned down his church.
Arriving at the St. Sebastian Rectory Office, Severide heard the chaos upstairs. The arsonist upstairs tied up and tape-gagged Father Anthony to a chair and doused him with kerosene and set him on fire before bumping into Severide and getting away. Severide rushed upstairs and witnessed a tied-up and tape-gagged Father Anthony on fire and doused him with the fireproof curtain, putting the fire out and rescuing him. He ungagged and untied him. He then called the other firefighters on his cellphone and allowed them to check on Father Anthony. Paramedics arrived and rushed a badly burned Father Anthony to the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.
Severide arrived at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center to question Father Anthony, but Father Anthony could not talk and identify the arsonist while in a medically induced coma since the arsonist continued to wreak havoc.
After having suffered some kind of complication, Father Anthony died and did not make it.
